{"id":2878,"date":"2010-10-04T17:35:50","date_gmt":"2010-10-04T21:35:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/?p=2878"},"modified":"2010-10-05T09:04:12","modified_gmt":"2010-10-05T13:04:12","slug":"north-country-papers-divided-on-paladino","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/2010\/10\/04\/north-country-papers-divided-on-paladino\/","title":{"rendered":"North Country papers divided on Paladino"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Carl Paladino is, if nothing else, polarizing.\u00a0 He&#8217;s drawing very different reactions from the North Country&#8217;s newspapers.<\/p>\n<p>In Monday&#8217;s lead editorial, the <a href=\"http:\/\/adirondackdailyenterprise.com\/page\/content.detail\/id\/515733.html?nav=5003\">Adirondack Daily Enterprise<\/a> generally pans the tea party bat-wielder, condemning the Buffalo businessman&#8217;s &#8220;new morality.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>While it&#8217;s old news that Mr. Paladino forwarded disgusting e-mails to  dozens of associates, columnist Bob Herbert described in detail the  e-mails&#8217; racist, sexist and pornographic content.<\/p>\n<p>We won&#8217;t get into it  here &#8211; find it online if you like &#8211; but we hadn&#8217;t realized quite how bad  they were. Really, the vileness can&#8217;t be overstated.<\/p>\n<p>Second, at  least four of Mr. Paladino&#8217;s campaign staff members have sordid  histories.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/poststar.com\/news\/opinion\/columns\/ktingley\/article_c6539860-ce3d-11df-881d-001cc4c03286.html\">Glens Falls Post-Star<\/a> sees Mr. Paladino differently, asking whether his &#8220;act may be just what the state needs.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Maybe a wild-eyed candidate that is in the people&#8217;s corner, willing to stomp around like a crazed bull, will get the attention of a Legislature that is out of touch with reality, but destined to be re-elected almost unanimously.<\/p>\n<p>There is your real dysfunction.\u00a0 So everybody get out of the way.
