{"id":3062,"date":"2010-10-23T09:38:50","date_gmt":"2010-10-23T13:38:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/?p=3062"},"modified":"2010-10-25T08:28:54","modified_gmt":"2010-10-25T12:28:54","slug":"saranac-lake-tops-moriah-28-19","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/2010\/10\/23\/saranac-lake-tops-moriah-28-19\/","title":{"rendered":"Saranac Lake tops Moriah 28-19"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Now <em>that<\/em> was a great football game.<\/p>\n<p>The Red Storm jumped to a huge start, opening a 22-0 lead at half-time, which was the score when I arrived.\u00a0 I thought maybe the game was going to be another blow-out.<\/p>\n<p>But the Vikings powered back in the second half, scoring 19 points.<\/p>\n<p>There was a huge crowd at Linney Field, up in Mineville.\u00a0 It was autumn cold, with a stiff wind under the big lights, but the energy from both sidelines was pretty intense.<\/p>\n<p>In the fourth quarter, Saranac Lake finally made a defensive stand and then a Moriah player bobbled a snap, giving the Red Storm great field position.<\/p>\n<p>That allowed Saranac Lake to tack on another 6 security points, going up 28-19 with a little more than four minutes left on the clock.<\/p>\n<p>This was the first really stiff test for both squads and sends them each into their respective post-seasons (Moriah is in the Class D conference, Saranac Lake in Class C) with much better seasoning.<\/p>\n<p>Both schools are ranked in the top 10 statewide.<\/p>\n<p>Saranac Lake posted an unbeaten regular season record, keeping their opponents to just 27 points all season, with most of that coming last night.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the Red Storm laid down roughly 300 points on their opponents.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Now that was a great football game.
