{"id":3167,"date":"2010-11-07T07:48:34","date_gmt":"2010-11-07T12:48:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/?p=3167"},"modified":"2010-11-08T08:26:06","modified_gmt":"2010-11-08T13:26:06","slug":"morning-read-worried-about-fat-pushing-cheese","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/2010\/11\/07\/morning-read-worried-about-fat-pushing-cheese\/","title":{"rendered":"Morning Read: Worried about fat, pushing cheese"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This is dairy country, and we have some of the best artisan cheese-makers in the US right here,<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2010\/11\/07\/us\/07fat.html?_r=1&amp;hp\"> so this article in the New York Times<\/a> will interest folks.<\/p>\n<p>The Federal government is really worried about the health impacts of high-fat diets, but the Federal government is also pushing Americans to eat a lot more cheese.<\/p>\n<p>The article describes a collaboration between Domino&#8217;s Pizza and and a government agency to create a new, far more cheesy pie.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThis partnership is clearly working,\u201d Brandon Solano, the Domino\u2019s  vice president for brand innovation, said in a statement to The New York  Times.<\/p>\n<p>But as healthy as this pizza has been for Domino\u2019s, one slice contains  as much as two-thirds of a day\u2019s maximum recommended amount of saturated fat, which has been linked to heart disease and is high in calories.<\/p>\n<p>And Dairy Management, which has made cheese its cause, is not a private business consultant.
