{"id":3204,"date":"2010-11-11T10:37:58","date_gmt":"2010-11-11T15:37:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/?p=3204"},"modified":"2010-11-11T14:54:41","modified_gmt":"2010-11-11T19:54:41","slug":"another-prison-fight","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/2010\/11\/11\/another-prison-fight\/","title":{"rendered":"Another prison fight?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Governor-elect Andrew Cuomo sent a clear message to Upstate prison communities yesterday: prepare for lean times.<\/p>\n<p>Cuomo made his first post-election swing stop at Sing Sing, for historical reasons, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2010\/11\/11\/nyregion\/11cuomo.html?ref=nyregion\">as the New York Times points out<\/a>, but also to foreshadow potential budget cuts in the prison system:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cOn the prison side, the census is dropping; that\u2019s good news,\u201d Mr. Cuomo said. \u201cWe are locking up fewer people. But then you need fewer facilities.
