{"id":3321,"date":"2010-11-30T16:33:17","date_gmt":"2010-11-30T21:33:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/?p=3321"},"modified":"2010-12-01T10:42:06","modified_gmt":"2010-12-01T15:42:06","slug":"developing-adirondack-museum-changes-leadership","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/2010\/11\/30\/developing-adirondack-museum-changes-leadership\/","title":{"rendered":"Developing: Adirondack Museum changes leadership"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Two sources tell NCPR that Adirondack Museum executive director Caroline Welsh is stepping aside as head of the Blue Mountain Lake landmark.<\/p>\n<p>Welsh, who couldn&#8217;t be reached for comment today, will be replaced in the interim by Mike Lombardi while a national search is made for a permanent director.<\/p>\n<p>Welsh joined the museum in 1986 and has led the institution since March 2007.<\/p>\n<p>She made a number of key decisions during her tenure, including the scrapping of a new Lake Placid branch museum, and closure of a Lake Placid retail outlet.<\/p>\n<p>(Below you will find more of Welsh&#8217;s resume from the Adirondack Museum website.)<\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s no word yet on why the Museum is making the change.\u00a0 NCPR will update this story as more information becomes available.<\/p>\n<p>From the Adirondack Museum website:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Since coming to the museum in 1986, Caroline Welsh has been involved in  nearly every aspect of operations.  As Chief Curator she has been  responsible for the administration, management, long-range planning,  research, preservation and interpretation of the museum&#8217;s extensive  collections with primary responsibility for the art and decorative arts  collections.  She has also during her tenure overseen museum  publications; exhibit planning and development; education programs and  the library; and the maintenance and operation for the physical plant  including the grounds.  As Director of Operations from 1994 through  2005, she played a leadership role in the design and implementation of  three major additions to the museum campus &#8211; the Visitor Center, the  Mark W.
