{"id":333,"date":"2008-12-03T13:16:00","date_gmt":"2008-12-03T17:16:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/2008\/12\/03\/frozen-river-blowing-up\/"},"modified":"2008-12-03T13:16:00","modified_gmt":"2008-12-03T17:16:00","slug":"frozen-river-blowing-up","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/2008\/12\/03\/frozen-river-blowing-up\/","title":{"rendered":"Frozen River Blowing Up"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Director Courtney Hunt&#8217;s new film about smuggling people across the frozen St. Lawrence River in Akwesasne is winning big awards &#8211; the Sundance Grand Jury prize, and most recently, <a href=\"http:\/\/carpetbagger.blogs.nytimes.com\/2008\/12\/03\/gotham-city-once-again-made-safe-for-indie-cinema\/?scp=5&amp;sq=frozen%20river&amp;st=cse\">a Gotham Independent Film award last night<\/a> (thanks, Brian Mann).<\/p>\n<p>The film was actually shot along the border north of Plattsburgh.  But <a href=\"http:\/\/www.northcountrypublicradio.org\/news\/archive.php?id=4003\">I covered Courtney Hunt when she filmed a short version<\/a> of <i>Frozen River<\/i> on the Akwesasne Mohawk reservation several years ago. And check out the trailer below.<\/p>\n<p>Big congrats to Courtney on her success.
