{"id":3440,"date":"2010-12-23T16:59:17","date_gmt":"2010-12-23T21:59:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/?p=3440"},"modified":"2010-12-29T11:21:21","modified_gmt":"2010-12-29T16:21:21","slug":"st-lawrence-valley-development-agency-dealt-blow","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/2010\/12\/23\/st-lawrence-valley-development-agency-dealt-blow\/","title":{"rendered":"St. Lawrence Valley development agency dealt blow"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Assemblywoman Addie Russell&#8217;s press release screams in capital letters: &#8220;THE NORTH COUNTRY HAS BEEN LET DOWN BY GOVERNOR PATERSON.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>After a couple years of negotiation and internal battles, St. Lawrence County officials thought they had a deal with NYPA to use money from the long-defunct aquarium project and 20 megawatts of low-cost power to start an economic development fund.\u00a0 They were assured Governor Paterson would sign off on the deal.<\/p>\n<p>Turns out eleventh hour legal obstacles have put the St. Lawrence River Valley Redevelopment Agency on hold.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.watertowndailytimes.com\/article\/20101223\/NEWS05\/312239949\">According to the Watertown Daily Times<\/a>, local officials appeared genuinely shocked.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>River Agency Chairman Robert O. McNeil could not be reached for  comment Wednesday night, but had said early Wednesday afternoon that the  contract still was on target for the governor&#8217;s approval.<\/p>\n<p>County Administrator Karen M.
