{"id":3495,"date":"2011-01-06T11:48:36","date_gmt":"2011-01-06T16:48:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/?p=3495"},"modified":"2011-01-06T15:52:42","modified_gmt":"2011-01-06T20:52:42","slug":"another-north-country-school-closes-in-saranac-lake","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/2011\/01\/06\/another-north-country-school-closes-in-saranac-lake\/","title":{"rendered":"Another North Country school closes in Saranac Lake"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Chris Knight is reporting in today&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/adirondackdailyenterprise.com\/page\/content.detail\/id\/522274\/School-board-approves-Lake-Colby-School-closing.html?nav=5008\">Adirondack Daily Enterprise<\/a> that the Saranac Lake Central School District has voted to close Lake Colby School.<\/p>\n<p>The school housed the district&#8217;s kindergarten program and was beloved by parents for being a place where faculty focused on introducing children to public school.\u00a0 (My own son Nicholas started there&#8230;)<\/p>\n<p>This from Superintendent Gerald Goldman:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;I also think the economic climate is much different now,&#8221; Goldman said.  &#8220;I think people realize that our enrollment&#8217;s going down, and it&#8217;s a  marginal building.
