{"id":3707,"date":"2011-02-04T07:34:11","date_gmt":"2011-02-04T12:34:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/?p=3707"},"modified":"2011-02-07T13:30:48","modified_gmt":"2011-02-07T18:30:48","slug":"morning-read-local-government-review-board-has-new-leadership","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/2011\/02\/04\/morning-read-local-government-review-board-has-new-leadership\/","title":{"rendered":"Morning Read:  Local Government Review Board has new leadership"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This morning, I&#8217;m reporting on high-profile questions being raised by the Adirondack Park Local Government Review Board about land deals in the Adirondacks.<\/p>\n<p>Those questions have also sparked criticism about the LGRB&#8217;s role in the debate, whether it reflects local government sentiment, and whether the group is acting within its legislated mandate.<\/p>\n<p>This morning, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.denpubs.com\/Articles-c-2011-02-02-99084.114134-sub-Delaney-chosen-to-lead-APA-Review-Board.html\">Adirondack Journal <\/a>is reporting that the LGRB has a new board president, Gerald Delaney from Clinton County.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;I worked on farms in the Adirondacks since my youth \u2014  I picked up a chain saw at the age of 18 and worked in the woods as a  logger, felling and skidding trees,&#8221; he said, noting that forest-related  resources were important traditionally and in the present day \u2014 for  both local culture and the economy.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Delaney replaces Newcomb town supervisor George Canon.\u00a0 According to the Journal, he shares Canon&#8217;s opposition to new land deals.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;The Adirondacks became what they are because of the  stewardship of large and small landowners,&#8221; he said.
