{"id":3964,"date":"2011-03-22T13:37:51","date_gmt":"2011-03-22T17:37:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/?p=3964"},"modified":"2011-03-23T07:38:08","modified_gmt":"2011-03-23T11:38:08","slug":"scozzafava-takes-new-role-in-north-country-as-apa-commissioner","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/2011\/03\/22\/scozzafava-takes-new-role-in-north-country-as-apa-commissioner\/","title":{"rendered":"Scozzafava takes new role in North Country as APA commissioner"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>(Correction:\u00a0 Chris Morris at WNBZ writes to tell me that Scozzafava first took her seat on the APA board at last month&#8217;s meeting in February.)<\/p>\n<p>Last week, former North Country Assemblywoman Dede Scozzafava made her debut appearance in a new role:\u00a0 Adirondack Park Agency commissioner.<\/p>\n<p>Scozzafava was appointed by Governor Andrew Cuomo last year to serve as Deputy Secretary for Local Government at the Department of State.<\/p>\n<p>DOS has a seat on the APA board and at the March meeting Scozzafava was there representing her agency.<\/p>\n<p>In that capacity, she&#8217;ll have the chance to cast some big votes in coming months as the Park Agency takes on issues that include the Adirondack Club and Resort permit.<\/p>\n<p>She&#8217;ll also give the keynote address tomorrow at the APA&#8217;s Local Government Day in Lake Placid.<\/p>\n<p>Scozzafava served as a Republican and was popular inside her district, but she clashed with national conservatives during a bid for the NY-23 House seat.<\/p>\n<p>She later endorsed Democratic candidates, including Rep. Bill Owens and Gov.
