{"id":4293,"date":"2011-05-27T06:02:06","date_gmt":"2011-05-27T10:02:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/?p=4293"},"modified":"2011-06-01T08:52:19","modified_gmt":"2011-06-01T12:52:19","slug":"morning-read-lake-champlain-program-loses-1-million","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/2011\/05\/27\/morning-read-lake-champlain-program-loses-1-million\/","title":{"rendered":"Morning Read:  Lake Champlain program loses $1 million"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.burlingtonfreepress.com\/apps\/pbcs.dll\/article?AID=2011110525041\">Burlington Free Press<\/a> reported this week that one of the region&#8217;s biggest research and ecological watchdog institutions &#8212; the Lake Champlain Basin Program &#8212; will lose about $1 million in Federal funding next year.<\/p>\n<p>The good news?\u00a0 Leaders of the organization say they feared deeper cuts and say this reduction only returns them to 2009 levels.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWe are so pleased to have that level of support when federal budgets  are under so much stress,\u201d Basin Program Manager Bill Howland said.
