{"id":4326,"date":"2011-06-06T06:21:43","date_gmt":"2011-06-06T10:21:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/?p=4326"},"modified":"2011-06-09T11:25:07","modified_gmt":"2011-06-09T15:25:07","slug":"morning-read-in-the-adirondacks-its-harley-time","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/2011\/06\/06\/morning-read-in-the-adirondacks-its-harley-time\/","title":{"rendered":"Morning Read: In the Adirondacks, it&#8217;s Harley time"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Regular readers of the In Box may remember that I&#8217;m pretty curmudgeonly when it comes to the motorcycle craze that&#8217;s sweeping the North Country.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve reported on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.northcountrypublicradio.org\/news\/story\/11723\/20080716\/motorcycle-touring-brings-big-business-accidents-to-north-country\">safety issues associated with cycle touring<\/a> and grumbled about the really <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/2010\/08\/24\/the-sound-and-the-fury-of-the-motorcycle-craze\/\">overwhelming and unnecessary amount of noise<\/a> these machines make.<\/p>\n<p>But for some reason, the popularity of Big Hog touring hasn&#8217;t been affected one bit by my salvos.\u00a0 Indeed, this week the Adirondack Harley invasion has resumed with gleeful (and for tourism businesses, lucrative) abandon.<\/p>\n<p>In Old Forge over the weekend, the  motor touring season kicked off with the 15th annual &#8220;Thunder In Old  Forge&#8221; event. This from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.adirondackexpress.com\/News\/05312011_thunder\">Adirondack Express<\/a> newspaper.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The event will include vendors like Harley Davidson, a  beer garden  barbecue by ADK Cafe, and live music by the Paul Case Band  on Friday,  Doug Green &amp; Mallory Road on Saturday and Fritz Henry  on Sunday.
