{"id":4553,"date":"2011-08-02T10:15:15","date_gmt":"2011-08-02T14:15:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/?p=4553"},"modified":"2011-08-08T13:32:29","modified_gmt":"2011-08-08T17:32:29","slug":"seven-days-to-the-adirondacks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/2011\/08\/02\/seven-days-to-the-adirondacks\/","title":{"rendered":"Seven Days to the Adirondacks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Seven Days, the weekly that gathers up the threads of Vermont&#8217;s weird reality on a regular basis, has turned its attention once again to the Adirondacks.<\/p>\n<p>The latest issue looks at everything from the arts &#8212; with a<a href=\"http:\/\/www.7dvt.com\/2011meadowmount-school-music\"> nice feature on Westport&#8217;s Meadowmount of School of Music<\/a> &#8212; to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.7dvt.com\/2011unmanned-military-drones-start-training-flights-over-adirondacks\">military&#8217;s drone overflights<\/a> in the Park.<\/p>\n<p>The magazine&#8217;s hipsters even head across the lake from Burlington Plattsburgh, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.7dvt.com\/2011plattsburgh-nightlife\">to sample the other &#8220;lake city&#8217;s&#8221; nightlife<\/a>, an article that starts by\u00a0 asserting that things are still a little patchy in P-burgh.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Part of the problem is, well, Burlington, the city\u2019s relatively  well-to-do neighbor to the east.<\/p>\n<p>Mention the Queen City to a young  Plattsburgher, and you\u2019re likely to get a reaction somewhere between  longing admiration and sullen jealousy.<\/p>\n<p>For fans of the television show  \u201cThe Simpsons,\u201d Plattsburgh would be like Shelbyville to Burlington\u2019s  Springfield.
