{"id":4610,"date":"2011-08-16T06:36:45","date_gmt":"2011-08-16T10:36:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/?p=4610"},"modified":"2011-08-17T10:02:37","modified_gmt":"2011-08-17T14:02:37","slug":"morning-read-north-country-municipal-power-project-dissolves-into-name-calling","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/2011\/08\/16\/morning-read-north-country-municipal-power-project-dissolves-into-name-calling\/","title":{"rendered":"Morning Read: North Country municipal power project dissolves into name calling"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.watertowndailytimes.com\/article\/20110816\/NEWS05\/708169911\">The Watertown Daily Times<\/a> is reporting this morning that plans to develop a municipal power system for 24 North Country towns is &#8220;dead in the water&#8221; and accusations are flying.<\/p>\n<p>The project was designed to cut power costs in the communities by developing a sort of collective that could negotiate better electricity contracts.<\/p>\n<p>Some partners are blaming James Monroe, the man who has led the project.\u00a0 The newspaper quotes at length Kenneth C. Anderson, a Washington DC attorney who has been a consultant on the effort.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cNobody wants to work with [Monroe],\u201d Mr. Anderson said. \u201cHe has a terrible  temper and if you disagree with him, he just goes into a shell and  refuses to do anything.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>A number of board members have asked that Monroe be dismissed by Governor Andrew Cuomo.\u00a0 But in today&#8217;s article, Monroe fires back, insisting that the municipal power concept is still viable.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI got all these guys against me, it\u2019s a challenge,\u201d he said. \u201cBut I  know what\u2019s right and I know what\u2019s wrong.
