{"id":4632,"date":"2011-08-19T07:46:54","date_gmt":"2011-08-19T11:46:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/?p=4632"},"modified":"2011-08-19T10:51:58","modified_gmt":"2011-08-19T14:51:58","slug":"morning-read-adirondack-park-agency-takes-on-critics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/2011\/08\/19\/morning-read-adirondack-park-agency-takes-on-critics\/","title":{"rendered":"Morning Read:  Adirondack Park Agency takes on critics"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>At yesterday&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.adirondackdailyenterprise.com\/page\/content.detail\/id\/526033\/APA-aims-to-challenge-critics-with-new-committee.html\">Adirondack Park Agency<\/a> meeting in Ray Brook, one of the citizens who spoke during the public comment period accused state officials of trying to &#8220;crucify&#8221; him.<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes the rhetoric runs hot where the APA is concerned.\u00a0 Chris Knight reported recently in the Adirondack Daily Enterprise that the state agency has now convened a new committee designed to address this sort of criticism.<\/p>\n<p>The &#8220;Public Awareness and Communications Committee&#8221; will be led by Bill Valentino and also includes commissioners Richard Booth, former local government leader Frank Mezzano, and former Republican assemblywoman Deedee Scozzafava, who now sits on the APA board.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;You  don&#8217;t have to be here long, and I&#8217;ve only been here a year, to be aware  of outside comments that don&#8217;t really reflect the reality of what we&#8217;re  trying to do here or what&#8217;s happening on the ground,&#8221; Valentino said at  the outset of the committee&#8217;s meeting last month.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I think what the  committee&#8217;s trying to find is a different way to set the record  straight.
