{"id":4811,"date":"2011-09-15T07:46:41","date_gmt":"2011-09-15T11:46:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/?p=4811"},"modified":"2011-09-15T09:03:40","modified_gmt":"2011-09-15T13:03:40","slug":"morning-read-clinton-county-privatizes-home-health-care","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/2011\/09\/15\/morning-read-clinton-county-privatizes-home-health-care\/","title":{"rendered":"Morning Read:  Clinton County privatizes home health care"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We&#8217;ve been reporting for the last couple of years on the scramble by county governments to continue paying for social services, especially those that benefit the elderly, even as costs continue to rise.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/pressrepublican.com\/0100_news\/x43729480\/Clinton-County-legislators-vote-to-privatize-home-health-care\">The Plattsburgh Press Republica<\/a>n is reporting that Clinton County officials have decided that paying for home health care is just too much.\u00a0 By privatizing the program, they hope to save taxpayers $2 million a year.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;There are 80,000 people who live in this county and they are the silent majority,&#8221; Robert Butler (R-Area 6, Saranac) said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Those  80,000 people have to have a spokesman, too.
