Besides issues like inflation and fluctuating exchange rates, it costs something just to print and replace all those circulating bills. Today&#8217;s the day Canada <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/news\/canada\/story\/2011\/11\/14\/new-dollar-bills.html\">unveils a plastic $100 bill<\/a>, with other denominations to follow.<\/p>\n<p>Apparently, this is not new. As the<a href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.ca\/2011\/06\/21\/plastic-money-canada_n_881053.html#s295483&amp;title=Twitter_reaction_to\"> Huffington Post Canada and CP report<\/a> <strong><\/strong>(with photos) Mexico and Australia have had polymer bills for a few years now.<\/p>\n<p>Besides expectations the new bills will last two-and-a-half times longer, the design is also chock-full of fancy anti-counterfeiting features. (Some of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theglobeandmail.com\/news\/national\/canada-rolls-out-new-high-tech-100-bill\/article2235374\/?utm_medium=Feeds%3A%20RSS%2FAtom&amp;utm_source=Home&amp;utm_content=2235374\">features produced surprises<\/a> in focus group reactions.)<\/p>\n<p>The $50 polymer note is scheduled for next March.
