{"id":5252,"date":"2011-12-28T09:14:46","date_gmt":"2011-12-28T14:14:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/?p=5252"},"modified":"2011-12-28T09:38:22","modified_gmt":"2011-12-28T14:38:22","slug":"morning-read-occupy-albany-gone-but-not-far","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/2011\/12\/28\/morning-read-occupy-albany-gone-but-not-far\/","title":{"rendered":"Morning read: Occupy Albany gone, but not far"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Occupy Wall Street protesters boosted from their Academy Park encampment plan a return to the Capitol Building today.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.timesunion.com\/local\/article\/Displaced-but-digging-in-2427864.php\">Albany Times Union has a story<\/a> this morning from the protesters&#8217; new headquarters, in a former art gallery a mile or so away from their former &#8212; and highly visible &#8212; location.<\/p>\n<p>They tell the paper they\u2019re not going away, just because they and their tents were forcibly removed by police and city workers last week.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;The space isn&#8217;t the movement,&#8221; said <a href=\"http:\/\/www.timesunion.com\/?controllerName=search&amp;action=search&amp;channel=local&amp;search=1&amp;inlineLink=1&amp;query=%22Emma+Steckman%22\">Emma Steckman<\/a>, a 29-year-old protester who lives in the city.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This movement is not about camping,&#8221; said <a href=\"http:\/\/www.timesunion.com\/?controllerName=search&amp;action=search&amp;channel=local&amp;search=1&amp;inlineLink=1&amp;query=%22David+Sickler%22\">David Sickler<\/a>, a protester from Albany who was among those hit with pepper-sprayed by police\u00a0Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re digging in,&#8221; said <a href=\"http:\/\/www.timesunion.com\/?controllerName=search&amp;action=search&amp;channel=local&amp;search=1&amp;inlineLink=1&amp;query=%22Colin+Donnaruma%22\">Colin Donnaruma<\/a> of Albany. &#8220;We&#8217;re going to keep going until we make substantial\u00a0changes.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The TU reports the group plans a press conference at the Capitol today, and legal action that could allow them 24 hour access to the park.<\/p>\n<p>During their weeks camping out, the protesters repeatedly took Gov.
