{"id":5285,"date":"2012-01-04T10:50:08","date_gmt":"2012-01-04T15:50:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/?p=5285"},"modified":"2012-01-05T10:39:12","modified_gmt":"2012-01-05T15:39:12","slug":"state-of-state-preview-will-cuomo-fight-the-legislature-over-redistricting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/2012\/01\/04\/state-of-state-preview-will-cuomo-fight-the-legislature-over-redistricting\/","title":{"rendered":"State of state preview:  Will Cuomo fight the legislature over redistricting?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Of all the impacts today&#8217;s state of the state speech could have on the North Country, the biggest could be any signs of a looming fight over political redistricting.<\/p>\n<p>Governor Andrew Cuomo has threatened to veto any plan that&#8217;s not drawn up by an independent commission.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.timesunion.com\/opinion\/call-them-on-it-mr-cuomo\/17068\/\">Albany Times Union<\/a> is urging him to take on that fight, accusing lawmakers of &#8220;lying&#8221; about their commitment to reforming this process.<\/p>\n<p>This matters regionally because this round of redistricting could have tectonic impacts in the North Country, affecting three congressional districts, three state Senate seats, and a half-dozen Assembly districts.<\/p>\n<p>So far &#8212; to cite one big example &#8212; Republican Rep.
