He&#8217;ll officially name the Jefferson County Democrat to chair the state Legislative Commission on Rural Resources at a press conference at 1 this afternoon.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.senatorwinner.com\/53\/NYS_Rural_Resources.aspx\">All I know about the Commission<\/a> comes from the previous chairman&#8217;s website.  We&#8217;ll have more details later this afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>With the GOP already gunning for Aubertine&#8217;s seat, it appears Smith wants to help Darrel make the case the North Country&#8217;s voice is being heard in the majority party.  He also gave Darrel chairmanship of the Agriculture Committee.<\/p>\n<p>UPDATE:  I read the press release wrong.  The presser was at 1.
