Her pursuit of military concerns won her a seat on the Senate Armed Services Committee.<\/p>\n<p>Today, new Senator Kirsten Gillibrand made her first connection to Fort Drum, meeting with Admiral Mike Mullen, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.  Mullen had recently visited Fort Drum.<\/p>\n<p>The Democrat honed in on Drum&#8217;s 3rd Brigade, currently in Afghanistan, in her meeting with Mullen.  From Gillibrand&#8217;s press release:<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman','serif';font-size:12\"><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;I am pleased  that as we refocus our mission in Afghanistan, we will ensure our soldiers have  a longer break at home between missions.
