Jim Tedisco, the Republican Assembly minority leader, has continued to hedge his reaction to President Obama’s stimulus plan.<\/p>\n

Now the Democrats have dug up a video of Tedisco bashing<\/a> Carolyn Kennedy for not taking a clear stand on the issue.<\/p>\n

“I don’t know where she stands on the stimulus package on the Federal level,” Tedisco says (at 4:20 of the attached video). “I don’t know how she stands on the bailouts that are taking place in the car industry and with Wall Street like now. I’d like to know the answers to those questions.”<\/p>\n

The veteran Assemblyman goes on to insist that journalists press Kennedy for a clear and unequivocal response.<\/p>\n

For the record, Tedisco has said that he would have voted for the bill, but only if his amendments had been included to reduce wasteful spending. <\/p>\n

Here’s the treatment from the Glens Falls Post-Star<\/a>:<\/p>\n

“There’s no question there is a need for a stimulus. We had to have a package,” Tedisco said. “I would have voted for the stimulus with the amendments that I put on the floor if I was there to remove the waste.” <\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Which might be described as a cautious way of saying No, because Republican amendments aimed at shrinking the amount of spending weren’t adopted in the House.<\/p>\n

It’s unclear whether any of this is hurting Tedisco. <\/p>\n

But one thing is crystal clear: The Democrats’ well-oiled campaign machine is working overtime looking for chinks in the Assembly minority leader’s armor.<\/p>\n
