Photo: vermontjournal.com and westernhunter.com<\/p><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wcax.com\/story\/17409406\/vt-governor-chased-by-4-bears-in-backyard?utm_source=facebook.com&amp;utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_campaign=7d\">WCAX<\/a> reports that Vermont governor Peter Shumlin was chased by 4 bears in his back yard. The bears were feasting on his bird feeders Wednesday night, \u00a0and it seems the governor interrupted their midnight snack.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s the play-by-play:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Shumlin says he ran out barefoot in an attempt to rescue his birdfeeders.<\/p>\n<p>He says one of the bears charged him on the porch.<\/p>\n<p>Shumlin told the Valley News editorial board Vermont &#8216;almost lost the governor.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>He says he was within &#8216;three feet of getting &#8216;arrrh.'&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.burlingtonfreepress.com\/article\/20120413\/NEWS03\/120413010\/-1\/NEWS\/Gov-Shumlin-escapes-4-bears-backyard-\">Burlington Free Press<\/a> brings us further details:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;On the negative side, the governor said he wasn&#8217;t exactly dressed for an outdoor tangle with wildlife. &#8216;Real Vermont boys don&#8217;t wear pajamas,&#8217; he said.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>At the end of March the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vtfishandwildlife.com\/\">Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department<\/a> said it had received <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vtfishandwildlife.com\/Wildlife_Bear_Report.cfm\">reports<\/a> of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vermontjournal.com\/content\/remove-bird-feeders-avoid-tempting-bears\">black bears<\/a> emerging from hibernation and looking for food. The department advised people to take down their bird feeders, secure garbage containers, and refrain from leaving food outside.<\/p>\n<p>I must say, I chuckled a little when I read this.
