Bill Owens (D-Plattsburgh).<\/p>\n<p>This from the <a href=\"http:\/\/poststar.com\/news\/local\/u-s-department-of-labor-kills-controversial-youth-farmwork-proposal\/article_47dbcdfa-9000-11e1-b016-0019bb2963f4.html\">Glens Falls Post Star<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The crackdown on farm workers incited area farmers and the region\u2019s  local, state and federal lawmakers, who immediately questioned the  administration\u2019s commitment to rural America.<\/p>\n<p>And on Thursday evening, the Labor Department pulled  back, specifically citing the nationwide rebuke of the attempt to bring  farms under the same standards as other industries.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Obama administration is firmly committed to  promoting family farmers and respecting the rural way of life,  especially the role that parents and other family members play in  passing those traditions down through the generations,\u201d read a statement  released by the Labor Department. \u201cTo be clear, this regulation will  not be pursued for the duration of the Obama administration.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Rep. Owens issued a statement late last night, which reads as follows:<\/p>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Calibri,sans-serif; font-size: x-small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman,serif; font-size: small;\"><strong> <\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<blockquote>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Calibri,sans-serif; font-size: x-small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman,serif; font-size: small;\"><strong><em>&#8220;This  is great news for youth interested in agriculture and family farms  across New York State.
