{"id":6077,"date":"2012-06-01T07:28:02","date_gmt":"2012-06-01T11:28:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/?p=6077"},"modified":"2012-06-01T10:08:08","modified_gmt":"2012-06-01T14:08:08","slug":"morning-read-wdt-says-road-cameras-installed-by-feds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/2012\/06\/01\/morning-read-wdt-says-road-cameras-installed-by-feds\/","title":{"rendered":"Morning Read:  WDT says mystery road cameras installed by Feds"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Unmarked roadside cameras that are popping up across the North Country appear to be part of a surveillance project developed by US Homeland Security.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.watertowndailytimes.com\/article\/20120601\/NEWS07\/706019794\">That&#8217;s according to a report this morning in the Watertown Daily Times<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>In an effort to protect the northern border, federal authorities are  installing cameras on electricity poles to read license plates.<\/p>\n<p>St. Lawrence County Sheriff Kevin M. Wells said the cameras are the same as those put up in major cities across the state.<\/p>\n<p>Citing  a recent news release from Franklin County District Attorney Derek P.
