{"id":629,"date":"2009-03-25T11:38:00","date_gmt":"2009-03-25T15:38:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/2009\/03\/25\/not-a-hard-choice\/"},"modified":"2009-03-25T11:38:00","modified_gmt":"2009-03-25T15:38:00","slug":"not-a-hard-choice","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/2009\/03\/25\/not-a-hard-choice\/","title":{"rendered":"Not a hard choice"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/northcountrypublicradio.org\/blogs\/ballotbox\/uploaded_images\/chris1-thumb-798921.jpg\"><img style=\"margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt;float: left;cursor: pointer;width: 80px;height: 120px\" src=\"http:\/\/northcountrypublicradio.org\/blogs\/ballotbox\/uploaded_images\/chris1-thumb-798918.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span>     <\/span>In chatting with writer <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chrisbohjalian.com\/\">Chris Bohjalian<\/a> about life in Vermont, I asked how he came to move from New York City to Burlington. <span>  <\/span>He says he and his wife decided to relocate <strong><span style=\"font-weight: normal\">after an unpleasant experience involving a rude, reckless taxi driver.<span>  <\/span>\u201cHe only came to a stop after seeing a policeman,\u201d Chris said. <span> <\/span>\u201cMy wife and I bolted out of the cab and went up to the officer and I said, \u2018Excuse me, there\u2019s an extremely discourteous cab driver pulling away!\u2019<span>  <\/span><span> <\/span>The police officer told us to immediately hit the ground, which we did.<span>  <\/span>And then we understood that we had just walked in on six of New York City\u2019s finest while they were storming a crack house. <span> <\/span>So, it\u2019s about midnight on a Saturday night and now we\u2019re face down on the pavement, and my wife looks at me and whispers, \u2018Why do we live here?\u2019 <span> <\/span><span> <\/span>And the next day, the New York Times had an article on Burlington, Vermont and an upcoming food festival called the Green Mountain Chew Chew.
