{"id":6825,"date":"2012-11-07T00:42:50","date_gmt":"2012-11-07T05:42:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/?p=6825"},"modified":"2012-11-07T03:31:16","modified_gmt":"2012-11-07T08:31:16","slug":"election-day-after-discussion-thread","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/2012\/11\/07\/election-day-after-discussion-thread\/","title":{"rendered":"Election Day After Discussion Thread"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/2012\/10\/31\/ny21-catch-all-a-new-poll-endorsements-chides-race-to-the-finish\/100-day-sprint-20\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-6796\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-6796\" title=\"100 day sprint\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/files\/2012\/10\/100-day-sprint8-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/files\/2012\/10\/100-day-sprint8-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/files\/2012\/10\/100-day-sprint8-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/files\/2012\/10\/100-day-sprint8.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Mostly this is a chance for In Boxers to chew over what just happened, but I&#8217;ll kick things off by scoring the wins and losses of our various prognostications, analyses and theories, ranked by wins and losses.<\/p>\n<p>WIN:\u00a0 The In Box predicted a 332-206 Obama win.\u00a0 When the dust finally settles, I think I&#8217;ll be pretty close.\u00a0 If Obama holds Florida, he&#8217;ll have won exactly that tally.<\/p>\n<p>As I thought he might, Romney came damned close in many, many places without tipping enough of them into the win column.\u00a0 A very tough, raw way to lose.<\/p>\n<p>WIN:\u00a0 The In Box has also talked a lot this year about the possibility of the popular vote and the electoral vote being out of synch.\u00a0 That, too, looks like a significant possibility as of 12:33 Wednesday morning.\u00a0 Take that, Nate Silver!<\/p>\n<p>UPDATE:\u00a0 Looks like the popular vote is also now trending Obama.<\/p>\n<p>LOSS:\u00a0 I predicted a close race for Assemblywoman Janet Duprey in the 115th Assembly race, describing a twilight of the moderates just yesterday.\u00a0 Boy, did I read that wrong.\u00a0 Duprey clobbered tea party conservative Karen Bisso&#8230;handily.<\/p>\n<p>UPDATE:\u00a0 Yes, to be more clear, my prediction of a conservative trend this year was clearly, unambiguously wrong.<\/p>\n<p>LOSS:\u00a0 I never came right out and made a prediction, but in the final two weeks I thought Democrat Bill Owens was deeply vulnerable.\u00a0 I described his campaign as quiet and lackluster.\u00a0 Maybe so &#8211;
