Photo: Anchorage Police Department flyer<\/p><\/div>\n<p>In an interview today with NCPR, the FBI confirmed that that serial killer Israel Keyes claimed to have deposited one of his murder victims in the North Country.\u00a0 &#8220;It is in northern New York,&#8221; said Alaska-based FBI special agent Jolene Goeden.<\/p>\n<p>Keyes made the statement while incarcerated in Anchorage, Alaska, before taking his own life last Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>It is believed that Keyes murdered at least five people nationwide, including two victims in Vermont.<\/p>\n<p>However, Goeden said that it was unclear where exactly the body might be located in the North Country.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We don&#8217;t have anything specific about where that victim is buried.\u00a0 We have general information, but it isn&#8217;t specific enough that we&#8217;re able to recover that victim.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>FBI officials also say that Keyes was involved in a bank robbery in Tupper Lake.<\/p>\n<p>Keyes owned property in Constable in northern Franklin County which was investigated by New York-based FBI officials &#8220;about a month or so ago,&#8221; Goeden said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;A number of items were seized from that location but there&#8217;s no indication based on what Mr. Keyes told us as well as what was uncovered in the search that there is a victim buried on that property,&#8221; she added.<\/p>\n<p>According to FBI officials, Keyes also threw away two of his murder weapons in a lake near Parishville, while passing through the North Country region.<\/p>\n<p>A nation-wide investigation is now underway to piece together details of Keyes&#8217; crime spree, a probe that includes his extensive activities in the North Country.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I think we still have a lot of work ahead of us,&#8221; Goeden said.\u00a0 &#8220;This case is a little different from other serial killer cases, where typically you would find a number of victims and try to connect them back to a person.\u00a0 In this case, we have the person and we&#8217;re trying to find the victims.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>NCPR will have more on this story tomorrow morning during Morning Edition and the 8 O&#8217;clock Hour.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In an interview today with NCPR, the FBI confirmed that that serial killer Israel Keyes [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":12,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[1],"tags":[6501,7120,7121],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/6957"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/12"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=6957"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/6957\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":6959,"href":"https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/6957\/revisions\/6959"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=6957"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=6957"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=6957"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
