{"id":696,"date":"2009-04-21T14:17:00","date_gmt":"2009-04-21T18:17:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/2009\/04\/21\/davis-quote-haunts-tedisco\/"},"modified":"2009-04-21T14:17:00","modified_gmt":"2009-04-21T18:17:00","slug":"davis-quote-haunts-tedisco","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/2009\/04\/21\/davis-quote-haunts-tedisco\/","title":{"rendered":"Davis quote haunts Tedisco"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We noted yesterday that former Virginia congressman Tom Davis &#8212; who once led the GOP&#8217;s House campaign effort nationwide &#8212; had called the election for Democrat Scott Murphy.<\/p>\n<p>That one comment, made to the <a href=\"http:\/\/washingtontimes.com\/news\/2009\/apr\/19\/gop-holds-out-hope-in-house-race\/\">Washington Times<\/a> newspaper, has haunted Republican Jim Tedisco in recent days, turning up in Politico, USA Today, and other prominent journals.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;We lost the special election in New York,&#8221; said Davis, a seven-term congressman from Virginia who stepped down from office last year. &#8220;It&#8217;s gone.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Not exactly the kind of statement that RNC chairman Michael Steele (or Tedisco himself) wanted floating around all week as the court fight muddled forward.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, no word from Jim Tedisco, who&#8217;s been invisible for a week now.  I still receive regular emails from the Murphy campaign.
