Gillibrand, just appointed New York&#8217;s junior senator by Gov. Paterson in January, is already raising money to fend off primary challengers next year. The Times reports Schumer says there&#8217;ll be NO primary, and is doing his best to  shore up Gillibrand&#8217;s standing in the Senate, and the state.
