Here&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.montrealgazette.com\/health\/Montreal+water+safe+Mayor+Michael+Applebaum+says\/8427747\/story.html\">more from the Montreal Gazette<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Update 4 pm<\/strong>. The boil water advisory for affected areas will continue to at least 9:30 or 10 pm, Thursday, when a further update on the situation will be available, according to the Montreal <em>Gazette<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>10:25 am.<\/strong> Approximately 1.3 million Montreal residents remain under a boil water advisory today. The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.montrealgazette.com\/news\/montreal\/Boil+water+advisory+affects+million+people+Montreal\/8418842\/story.html\">Montreal Gazette reports<\/a> the problem stems from a mishap at a water treatment plant that caused sediment to be stirred into the city&#8217;s water system.<\/p>\n<p>The boil water advisory is\u00a0considered\u00a0precautionary and may be lifted between 5-8 pm tonight, once test results come back. But, as\u00a0you can imagine, the situation is a tremendous\u00a0inconvenience\u00a0for institutions, businesses and individuals.<\/p>\n<p>As the story is picked up as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/2013\/05\/22\/us-montreal-water-idUSBRE94L10F20130522\">international news<\/a>, the Globe and Mail writes that this incident contributes to doubts about\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.theglobeandmail.com\/news\/national\/montreals-boil-water-warning-inflames-an-already-simmering-city\/article12057305\/?cmpid=rss1\">Montreal&#8217;s ability to properly administer and deliver<\/a> essential services:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cIt\u2019s another blow,\u201d said restaurateur Alexandre Wolosianski after his staff raced out to Costco to buy 50 large containers of water to supply his bustling downtown eatery, the Dominion Square Tavern. In the morning, his cooks called him to report the tap water was yellowish. \u201cNot many Montrealers are proud of their city right now. It already feels like our infrastructure is outdated. Now this.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Many residents of smaller municipalities are used to dealing with the\u00a0occasional\u00a0boil water advisory.
