The Democrats still have a deadline of 5 pm this afternoon for candidates to declare their interest (it seems mostly <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newswatch50.com\/news\/local\/story\/Aubertine-spokesman-All-rumors-unsubstantiated\/Ef_-6l2fnkie6PD9LLIILQ.cspx\">they&#8217;re waiting for Darrel Aubertine to decide<\/a> if he&#8217;s going run).<\/p>\n<p>But, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.northcountrypublicradio.org\/news\/story\/14025\/gop-names-scozzafava-for-23rd-cd-race\">as we reported this morning on The 8 O&#8217;Clock Hour<\/a>, Gouverneur&#8217;s Dede Scozzafava is the Republicans&#8217; choice to try to hold the 23rd congressional district.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;ll be a high stakes, multi-million dollar race with national exposure and big political implications, especially for the GOP, which is clinging to a toehold in the Northeast.<\/p>\n<p>Tomorrow morning on The 8 O&#8217;Clock Hour, Martha Foley and I will be setting up the race and what&#8217;s at stake.
