{"id":922,"date":"2009-07-24T14:52:00","date_gmt":"2009-07-24T18:52:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/2009\/07\/24\/scozzafava-wins-independent-support\/"},"modified":"2009-07-24T14:52:00","modified_gmt":"2009-07-24T18:52:00","slug":"scozzafava-wins-independent-support","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/2009\/07\/24\/scozzafava-wins-independent-support\/","title":{"rendered":"Scozzafava wins Independent support"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/blogs\/dailypolitics\/\">New York Daily News<\/a> is reporting that State Independence Party Chairman Frank MacKay is throwing his support behind Dede Scozzafava in the 23rd House seat race.<\/p>\n<p>MacKay issued a press release saying that his party preferred Democrat Darrel Aubertine; but with Aubertine bowing out, Independents will back Scozzafava:   <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;In polling our state executive committee this morning, I can say with certainty that we will support our local leaders in the 23rd Congressional District and today we throw the support of the Independence Party behind Assemblywoman Scozzafava,&#8221; MacKay said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The article quotes Watertown Mayor Jeff Graham, a member of the Independence Party&#8217;s state committee:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;She will be an able and exemplary representative of the people of the 23rd, and I heartily support her candidacy for the seat held by Rep.
