{"id":95,"date":"2008-09-27T12:49:00","date_gmt":"2008-09-27T16:49:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/2008\/09\/27\/the-small-town-governor-faces-big-test-in-first-debate\/"},"modified":"2008-09-27T12:49:00","modified_gmt":"2008-09-27T16:49:00","slug":"the-small-town-governor-faces-big-test-in-first-debate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/2008\/09\/27\/the-small-town-governor-faces-big-test-in-first-debate\/","title":{"rendered":"The Small Town Governor faces big test in first debate"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sarah Palin came out of nowhere (read:  rural America) like a rocket, boosting John McCain&#8217;s poll numbers and delivering a knockout speech at the Republican National Convention.<\/p>\n<p>But in the weeks that have followed, she&#8217;s drawn increasing criticism from reporters for avoiding press conferences.<\/p>\n<p>Her two big outings &#8212; with anchors Charlie Gibson and Katie Couric &#8212; weren&#8217;t big hits, even among some Republicans.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a key passage from Politico, the on-line political journal:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Conservative columnist Kathleen Parker, a former Palin supporter, says the vice<br \/>presidential nominee should step aside.
