{"id":967,"date":"2009-08-11T06:21:00","date_gmt":"2009-08-11T10:21:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/2009\/08\/11\/the-anger-of-hillary-rodham-clinton\/"},"modified":"2009-08-11T06:21:00","modified_gmt":"2009-08-11T10:21:00","slug":"the-anger-of-hillary-rodham-clinton","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.northcountrypublicradio.org\/inbox\/2009\/08\/11\/the-anger-of-hillary-rodham-clinton\/","title":{"rendered":"The anger of Hillary Rodham Clinton"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There&#8217;s a lot of snickering in the media and political worlds about Hillary Clinton&#8217;s temper flare-up while traveling in the Congo.<\/p>\n<p>Asked about her husband&#8217;s opinion, Secretary Clinton replied with incredulity:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;You       want me to tell you what my husband thinks?&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>The AP reported:<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;My husband is not secretary       of state, I am,&#8221; an obviously annoyed Clinton said sharply. &#8220;If you want my opinion, I will tell you my opinion. I am not       going to be channeling my husband.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The video, which <a href=\"http:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/2009\/08\/10\/hillary-clinton-im-secretary-state\/\">you can see here (scroll to the bottom)<\/a> shows the Secretary of State in a rare unguarded moment.<\/p>\n<p>She is, to put it mildly, furious.<\/p>\n<p>The scene put me in mind of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=ryEGmkjv8R8\">this recent clenched-teeth<\/a> moment with California Senator Barbara Boxer.<\/p>\n<p>She asks a military officer testifying before her Senate panel to call her &#8220;Senator&#8221; and not &#8220;ma&#8217;am.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s just the thing,&#8221; Boxer said.  &#8220;I worked so hard to get that title.  So I would appreciate it.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>These moments are fascinating markers, evidence of a wholesale shift in American society.<\/p>\n<p>Women hold more and more positions of real authority.
