Only if Scozzafava is the Republican nominee,&#8221; Long wrote.<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;By <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pressrepublican.com\/homepage\/local_story_220051621.html\">postponing Congressman McHugh\u2019s confirmation<\/a>, the US Senate has given us all an unexpected second chance. I sincerely hope you will take this time to re-examine the candidacy of Dede Scozzafava. It is not too late to come together behind a candidate who can unite us all.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are confident of our success if we go our own way, alone.
