Precious metals

Had lunch a few days ago with a close friend of NCPR’s, Sara Jane DeHoff. Sara Jane has spent summers in Lake Placid for years. She’s active in the cultural life of communities, wherever she lands–here in the Adirondack North Country, at her winter home in Ohio, and at the national level. Sara Jane, and her daughter Ashley Kasperzak, have co-curated a remarkable show at the Lake Placid Center for the Arts, Precious Metals: Jewelry & Functional Art. It opens this Friday, July 9, with a reception that day from 5-7 pm. It runs through August 15, with High Tea offered on these Thursdays, from 4-6 pm: July 15, July 29, August 12. For details, visit LakePlacidArts.org.

The show includes work by 12 renowned artists. Keep your ears open–Todd Moe, our cultural reporter and morning host, interviewed one of the featured artists, Dan Dailey. We’ll be airing that conversation during the 8 O’clock Hour next week.

So, I had a sneak preview of the show…work just arriving in the storage and prep area of the LPCA. Here’s a peek at what I saw…

Sara Jane models some of the work.

Sara Jane DeHoff, show curator, Nadine Duhaime, LPCA Executive Director, and Sage Bissell, LPCA Assitant Director, looking over newly arrived work.

Nadine Duhaime does a bit of modeling, too.

Work by Susan Camp, from the show, Precious Metals.

Millennium Floor Lamp by Albert Paley, from the Precious Metals show.
