Gouverneur Day 2

I admit that Jonathan Brown’s post is more interesting… a new life, new friends, new beers to drink… but I get to put up a new tower!

Monday was a VERY exciting day in Antwerp!  Tim from TMT Construction in Gouverneur, dug four deep holes with his giant (to me) track hoe.   (Three for the guy anchors plus one central pier that the tower actually sits on)

Then Jerry Hunt and his crew framed up the guy anchor re-bar cages and the big Sonotube for the central pier…. AND then poured about half of the concrete!  Nice day’s work…. plus nobody complained of the heat.

Because the ground was soft, they had to use a concrete dump bucket,  as the ready-mix trucks didn’t want to get mired in the muck:

Here’s Jerry trying hard to not get buried in the central pier:And, of course, lots of peering into the ground!
