On the road: Glens Falls

I’m a real cheerleader for Glens Falls. Watching this city come to life in the past few years has been a joy. Sandy Demarest and I took a road trip there yesterday–to check in with old friends like Rick Davidson, and to introduce ourselves to some new friends.

We stopped in at the new store, Nine, around the corner from Davidson's, on Glen Street. Three generations: Kerry Davidson, her mom Brenda Griffin and her grandmother Sylvia McCall. (Happy birthday to Brenda and Sylvia, both celebrating a shared birthday yesterday.)

I like the mix of refurbished old and nicely designed new structures in Glens Falls.

Leaving town in Sandy's VW bug...

A shot of the Queensbury Hotel as we headed back north. Just before we got into the car, we ran into State Senator Betty Little, strolling downtown. She said she’s developed a new way to run for office, “campaign by shopping.”

What makes you most happy about your town or village or hamlet or crossroads?
