Old meets new

NPR regional editor, Andrea DeLeon, and NCPR reporter and program host, Nora Flaherty, in the NCPR interview studio.

Back in the ’80s, our star student intern–and later, part-time announcer–was Andrea DeLeon, an alumnus of St. Lawrence University. When she left the north country, she moved to the west coast for a while, then back east to Maine, where she still lives with her family. Andrea has for many years worked for NPR as the regional editor. This means that our reporters vet most of their stories through Andrea and, occasionally, Andrea calls up David or Brian and asks for their help covering a story.

Nora Flaherty is the newest addition to the NCPR staff and news department. Last week, she began her tenure with us and in the near future you will hear her weekday afternoons as the new host of “All Before Five.” Nora most recently worked at WFUV, based at Fordham University in NYC.

Last week, two days after Nora began work with us, Andrea showed up to visit with our news team and to see her daughter, who is now a student at SLU.

Welcome back, Andrea (albeit briefly). Welcome aboard, Nora (we hope it’s a long tenure with us).
