Sweat and thumbs

Call it what you will–my mother’s generation said girls don’t sweat they “glisten” and boys “perspire”–sweat, like our opposable thumb, separates us from a lot of other protein on this planet. It’s summer, we’re active and glistening, perspiring and sweating. Be glad. Watch this piece (the audio aired on several nationally-distributed public radio outlets). Sorry, mom, I’m gonna keep sweating.

Sweating is what a lot of us do when funding for NPR is at stake (steak?)!

Cute video and I would add this.
When in the Navy and stationed in Southern California, I hiked up a small mountain outside of Burbank on a hot day and didn’t sweat a bit. Or so I thought.
The facts were the following. The temp was over 110 degrees but the humidity was extremely low, which meant the sweat evaporated almost immediately.
One of the dangers of the desert areas is people not realizing how much water they are losing on a hot, dry day to keep their bodies cool. You need to drink the water you are losing from sweating, even if you don’t think you are sweating.
