Listening Post: Dropping in the Keystone
That grinding sound you hear is everyone at the station gearing up for Spring Fundraiser, which begins while the birdies sing on Monday morning. Dolly-loads of thank-you goodies have been arriving for weeks. The phone room is being furnished with laptops for all our phone volunteers for the first time (what could go wrong?). The fridge is stocked with life- and voice-sustaining provender. And the early birds have been donating by mail and online, getting a jump start on all our prize drawings.
It takes a lot of moving parts to make this all come out right. Businesses and organizations have done their part by underwriting programs and contributing more than $14,000 of goods and services, just to give this fundraiser some pizzazz. Government has done its part, through the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and agencies of New York State. Our license holder, St. Lawrence University, has given us funding, as well as facilities and logistical support. Foundations, both local and national, have supported the efforts that best fit their respective missions.
All these other pieces of support comprise a sustaining arch for North Country Public Radio, but it can’t support the full weight of the service without the keystone–the single strongest source of support–your contributions, small and large. We look forward to hearing from thousands of you over the coming week. But if you are the shy type, you can drop in your keystone contribution at ncpr.org now. Thanks to everyone for their generosity and good will.
