Politics and poetry

In recent weeks, Salon.com, the on-line journal, has been running a limerick contest. I offer a link here, though I wasn’t particularly impressed with what I saw in this latest batch. But I’ve got a feeling NCPR folk are going to come up with some good ones.

Here’s what I’m looking for: limericks, haiku, any short form verse that has a political or weather (or both) theme.

Rules: watch your language, don’t be mean-spirited (though pointed opinion from anywhere on the political spectrum is fine), and humor MUCH appreciated.

Okay, here’s the best I can do:

There once was a storm they called Sandy,

It hit the East like cheap brandy,

Mitt  worried October surprise,

Prez worried blue vote demise,

But New Yorkers asked, “Is that brandy handy?”

Surely, y’all can do better. C’mon.
