We’re in for the long haul

When you connect with NCPR, you connect with an organization rooted in the region. We grow because the people who live here, in this geographic place, nurture NCPR.

Here’s a message we just received from Pete and Andrea Bellinger:

We’ve given during this fundraiser, but I wanted to tell this story that I think about every fundraiser.  When my first son was born, we moved from Watertown (and the Oswego NPR station) to Ogdensburg.  I mean I was wheeled out of the hospital with a baby in my arms after a Cesarean and arrived at a 3 room apartment in Ogdensburg, NY.   This was the era of a load of manure, eggs and massages in fundraising premiums with the hope of $10,000 totals.   It was October 1983 and as I listened to the radio I became a NCPR convert.

The next year we had moved into an 11 room house and one of the premiums were two apple trees.  Now it is 2013 and I can’t total the number of quarts of applesauce and apple chutney (courtesy of the NCPR cookbook) have been produced from the premier apple tree.  So thanks guys.

Thanks to Pete and Andrea–family supporters and business supporters (Maple City Insurance) for 30 years.

Yup, we’re in for the long haul…as long as you’re along for the ride, too.

Thank you.
