The Murphy campaign in the NY-20 race just announced that former President Bill Clinton will campaign in Saratoga Springs the day before the November 2010 midterm elections.
Obviously, this is a huge boost for Scott Murphy, who’s locked in a very tight race with Republican challenger Chris Gibson.
But it’s also a tacit acknowledgment that Murphy is vulnerable. Clinton is in high demand right now for struggling Democrats, and he doesn’t go where he’s not needed.
Exact time and venue for Clinton’s appearance haven’t been determined.

Meanwhile Howie Hawkins, Green Party candidate for governor was at Rockhill Bakehouse in Glens Falls on Saturday night. Hawkins spoke for about an hour and a half on his plan to fix the state of New York including reducing property tax by taking Medicaid funding away from county government. Hawkins platform includes creating true progressive income tax, reforming Albany, full employment, and health care for all. Hawkins is promoting a nuts and bolts approach to fixing state government.

Bill Clinton is an example of why term limits arent always a good idea.
Bill Clinton is an example of why term limits are a good idea- always.
I think term limits are essential and should be expanded to include Congress. What a refreshing change that would be. Regarding Bill Clinton, he’s arguably the biggest star in the Democratic party, more so than Obama. And his appearances around the country seem to be having a positive effect in terms of bringing out the Democratic base. But it’s the independents that will determine some of these crucial races. Does his star power hold sway over them? I’m not so sure……
Bret,
I knew you’ld say that.
And I knew you’d know I’d say that. Can’t help it man, slime ball trash is slime ball trash no matter how high the office.
I knew you’d say that before you knew that you’d say that, infinity! And my infinity is bigger than your infinity, infinity. And I’m rubber, you’re glue!
Does slime stick to rubber?(Smiley face)
An even better response, shamelessly stolen from my former union President when confronted with some misapplication of funding, “NUT-UH!!!”. Man, that’s the #1 classic defense of all time…
