From the online news aggregator, The Wire, this CNN video of Colin Powell talking about the US budget deficit…including a rejection of the notion that money for public radio or the arts or humanities is relevant in terms of the big spending issues we face as a nation. Here’s the link.

It’s full of information about the current situation in Congress vis-a-vis funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, which awards community service grants to public radio and tv stations each year. (By the way, NPR does NOT receive federal money–individual stations decide whether or not to use some or all of their CPB grants to purchase NPR programs.)
