McHugh confirmed by Armed Services committee

John McHugh has taken the first official step towards becoming the next Secretary of the U.S. Army. The Senate Armed Services committee has confirmed McHugh on a voice vote, reports the Watertown Daily Times. The next (and last step) is a floor vote before the whole Senate. That should be little more than a formality.

Then Gov. Paterson can pick a date for a special election, and the race will finally be on to replace McHugh.
