Tedisco wants rematch with Murphy

Republican Jim Tedisco says the political climate has changed and he’d like one more go-round with Glens Falls Democrat Scott Murphy.

Murphy edged Tedisco by just 700 votes back in the spring, when President Barack Obama’s approval ratings were higher.
Tedisco also got flummoxed by the (then) popular stimulus bill, which he refused to take a clear stand on initially.
In the months since the race, Tedisco has lost his leadership role in the state Assembly.
According to the Glens Falls Post-Star, the Republican has been courting GOP party chairs in the district.
Tedisco said in a telephone interview that he has been meeting with the 10 county chairmen to analyze mistakes in the special election and how the mood of the country may be changing. “I think I’ve met or talked with all of them,” he said. He has support from at least one county chairman. “I think it’s a great idea for Jim. He only lost by 700 votes,” said Warren County Republican Chairman Michael Grasso.

This time round, of course, Tedisco would be facing an incumbent with plenty of cash to spend. He also still faces the small but significant issue that he lives outside the district.
According to the Post-Star, Republicans are looking at some other possible candidates, but “neither is well known or an elected official.”
Ouch.
The Republican bench is supposed to be deeper than this in the North Country…
