Drum troops waiting for Obama’s Afghanistan plan

Lots of reporting in the news over the weekend about President Obama’s impending strategy shift in the way ahead in Afghanistan. Fort Drum was linked enough to a 30,000 troop surge that the Army base near Watertown released this statement last night:

The President is in the process of determining a way ahead in Afghanistan. It would be inappropriate for us to speculate on that strategy until the President makes an official announcement and we are notified of any 10th Mountain Division involvement in support of that strategy.

Until that time, the 1st Brigade Combat Team and the rest of the division will continue to train, plan and maintain readiness in order to meet any future mission requirements.
