Make that 9 Adirondackers aiming for Vancouver
We’ve been tracking North Country athletes vying for a shot at the Vancouver 2010 Winter gold.
One name that slipped our notice (thanks to Mike Lynch at the Adirondack Daily Enterprise for the nudge) is Erin Hamlin.
Technically, the 23-year-old lives just outside the Park in Remsen, NY, but she’s trained and competed for much of her career in Lake Placid.
Over the weekend, Hamlin locked in her position on the US Olympic team. This from the AP:
Hamlin, of Remsen, finished fifth in a World Cup race in Germany on Sunday, officially locking up her second trip to the Olympics by meeting one of USA Luge’s selection criteria.
The rest of the U.S. team for the Vancouver Games will be unveiled Dec. 18.
We’ve tallied eight other North Country athletes who have a shot at competing in Canada this winter.
Here’s our list:
-Haley Johnson (Lake Placid, age 28) Biathlon
-Lowell Bailey (Lake Placid, age 28) Biathlon
-Tim Burke (Paul Smiths, age 27) Biathlon
-Bill Demong (Vermontville, age 29) Nordic combined
